Training

Training of the Horse
Training - $40/ by the ride at your farm, or full training (minimum of 4 rides a week) at $25 per ride. Halliea is happy to travel a reasonable distance to where your horse is located. Or, your horse can be boarded at Marisposa Farms in Canton for full training, flat fee of $1000.

Halliea is fabulous with hot and special issue horses and uses correct methods, not gadgetry, to provide consistent results. Training consists of ground work, round pen work, riding, conditioning, jumping and gymnastics. Have a green or unbroken horse? Not a problem! Halliea can start their education in a slow, gentle way.

After being approached for lessons by many friends and family, Halliea has decided to offer lessons that are based on correct methods to produce happy horses and riders. Halliea has been riding and competing for many years and she has a desire to teach others the joys that can come from the human equine bond. Lessons are always given with safety first in mind - all riders are required to wear an ASTM approved helmet along with heeled boots. Halliea has had great success teaching younger riders the basics, helping adults get back into riding, as well as helping established riders fine tune their performances. There are well trained and kind horses available at our farm for you to learn with, or Halliea would be happy to travel to your farm to help you with your horse. Lessons are given individually or up to three riders at the same level, depending on your needs and riding ability.

"All of my life I've ridden the horses that no one else wanted to ride. I shoveled poo and scrubbed buckets and raked and lifted and carried for the opportunity for working with these horses, because I was in the situation where I could not afford a whole lot. I would get on anything; truly fearless as only a young ambitious rider can be. I never had a horse that was made for me - the horses that I worked with were too hot for the other kids, or even some of the adults. They were untrained, non-jumping, some just short of runaways, and some truly belonged in the rodeo because all they did was misbehave. What a blessing it turned out to be! While other kids were racking up ribbons and points on their made mounts, I got something that none of them received: an understanding for training. I was able to take those diamonds in the rough, the throw aways, and turn them into mounts that everyone envied. And I learned patience. And understanding. And that no martingale, draw reins, chambone, etc. can create a quiet, willing horse. Only time, proper training, and patience can achieve that. With this knowledge, I can confidently offer my services to your friend, whether they need a correct start, they have some quirks that need attention, or you just down right need a little help!"
